Walking down a street in Istanbul, it doesnt take long to see several 'stray' cats. I know what you're thinking: "Every big city has stray animals." But oh contrare my friend, these cats are different. The strays here are taken care of as if they are pets. In fact, in 2004 they passed an animal rights law protecting all street animals. Also, Islam preaches respect toward all animals, especially for cats. Cats are mentioned several times in the Kuran, even mentioned for once saving the life of the Prophet Mohammad. Don't worry mom... these animals are given shots, so they are safe to touch.
