Today is Thursday, the first of August, and yet another glorious day of preparation is reaching an end. For those of you who know me, you could probably guess that I am putting off packing. Don't get me wrong; I am a great packer... when it comes to packing a big suitcase for a week or so vacation... this is a whole new goal to accomplish! I must pack an efficient amount of things for five months, while also considering that I will be carrying everything around on my back every day. I have done plenty of research on how to pack for long term travel, and also put lots of thought into what things I feel are personally important. SOOOOOO..... for those who are interested, here is EVERYTHING which I am bringing:

| 65 liter North Face backpack. This will be what I live out of the entire trip. |

| My toiletries bag; I am not sure whether I want to put this on my carry on or if I want to make it easy and just put it in my backpack, which I am checking at the airport, so I put everything in containers which are less than 3.7oz. |

eBags- mesh bags which will act like "shelves" in my backpack. I have two of them. Great for storing underwear and socks. Also great for condensing clothes and keeping things organized.

Exfficio underwear- worth noting for anyone who is preparing to do some travelling where laundry facilities may not be available/camping. They are supposedly waterproof, very breathable, and can be washed in a sink and dry very quickly.
"Money Belt" A bag that you wrap around your waist under your clothes and supposedly isn't visible through your clothing. This is where I will store my passport, ID, ATM cards, money, etc, and will only remove it to shower.
A paper journal, which was a gift from a dear friend, my kindle for reading material/updating my blog, and my zune music player.
Our small portable video camera, and our nice Canon camera. It is risky bringing along expensive equipment, but Matthew and I have decided it is very important for us to document this journey/our life together. We hope to use the footage to make something interesting to share. Film/creating art is our passion, therefore, we consider it worth bringing. I mean, why the heck would we invest in a nice camera to just leave it sitting at home?
My old laptop. I was planning to bring only the kindle, but we need a way to upload or video/pictures off of our memory drive and to make sure we can store large amounts of data onto our cloud storage for safe keeping. I wish there was a way I didnt have to lug it around, but once again, documenting this process is very important to us. Anyone have different suggestions?
Camera Bag; this will be my one carry-on bag.

Our face/body razors and clippers. Small and light weight, it allows us to keep our bodies and faces and head groomed the whole trip, without having to worry about the expense of haircuts.
Now, the last thing to pack is clothes, which will be my task tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK!

There should be some kind of attachment you can get for your kindle that allows you to connect a USB port. There is also a thing you can get that is a small accessory with slots for memory cards. So you could get the USB attachment, take the memory card out of your camera, put it into the small attachment and put straight onto kindle (if a kindle even has a storage space for photo/video I'm not sure I'm going off what I know about tablets and they all have the same type of charger. And on my tablet I know for a fact this USB connector piece exists. So I'm only assuming its versatile) Anyways, with the USB connector you could also plug in the hard drive and then transfer these photos/videos onto it. The memory card connector piece isn't really necessary BC u could plug your camera cord right into the USB port but its a nice thing to have. BC the one I have has a piece that fits a cell phone memory card and you can get those pics on to the hard drive as well. Unless you have an iPhone in which case it would also be useless BC they don't have memory cards. Hope this information helps :) -emily alexander
